Our Family Pictures

Right before we left Utah, I had a close friend of mine take our family pictures professionally. She did such an amazing job! It has taken me forever to get them on here, but I figured it is better late than never, right? She also took some really great ones of Shiloh on his own. The crazy (no pun intended) thing about where she took these pictures, is that it was on the grounds of the Utah state mental hospital. When she suggested it, I was a little worried about where we would actually find a good spot there to have the pictures take, but as you can see, it was the perfect spot.

I loved this pic of Shiloh in the Wagon. At this point he wasn't quite sitting up by himself for very long, so Kenny would sit him up and then take his hand away really quick to see if we could get a good shot. It worked out really well.

Emily did some really interesting aging affects to the pics. I really like them. It is amazing with a 7 month old that we could get a picture with all of us smiling.
Just a candid shot of us all playing together.
Daddy and baby! Such a handsome picture if I do say so myself! I am a lucky lady to live with these two guys.
Sweetest face ever!

Again, sweetest face ever!
I love this pic of Kenny and I, although it is kind of reminiscent of an engagement shot.
Who wouldn't want to find that cute guy when they opened up their suitcase?

She did such a great job with our pictures and I am really excited that I will have some great family photos to hang up in our house here Missouri.

The Many Eating Faces of Shiloh

Needless to say, I have lots of stain remover on hand. Love this little guy!

We are in Missouri! (Missouri State Fair)

So We are in Missouri, and have been for a whole month now!!!! It seems kind of crazy that it has been that long and that we are here to stay! It seems like we are on an extended vacation or something. I guess that being in an apartment and not a permanent house kind of helps that feeling linger. We are making lots of new friends and looking at a ton of homes every week. I am not sure we will be staying in the ward that we are in or if we will be in the one just north of the city.

So our first weekend here we went to the Missouri State fair. this fair was the size of a small city. It just went on and on and on. There were tons of animals. There was a huge carnival. There was tons of food. Tractor and farm equipment sales. We didn't take too many pics but we took a few and here they are!
Doesn't he look sooooo cute! This is one of my fave pics of him:)
There was a small petting zoo. Shiloh loved to pet all of the goats and animals.
This is Shiloh and I sitting in a tire of a huge piece of John Deere Farm equipment. I am too much of a city slicker to know what it was called or even what it did, but I can tell you It was Gigantic and Green! It was hot, but we had a blast!!!

Shiloh at 7 1/2 months old

This is Shiloh as he is today.... sitting and gnawing on his fingers. He is teething currently, so it makes him a bit grumpy. He still is a great baby, although currently I am listening to him scream in his crib. This has become a little more common considering the teething aspect. Poor kid! Poor me! Am I allowed to say that? I guess all of you parents out there know exactly how I am feeling. He sits up really really well. He hasn't even begun to think about crawling because he HATES being on his tummy so entirely. Every time we put him on his tummy he just rolls over and if you keep putting him on his tummy he gets a bit agitated, so he is not quite mobile yet! He is a big fan of standing. He wants someone to stand and walk with him all of the time. We recently got him a walker and he scoots himself backwards into the walls. It is so cute. It has also been a saving grace that he likes his walker because I can actually get a few things done now. Just yesterday he was sitting in it and happily playing for about an hour. He didn't get grumpy unless I forgot to scoot him away from the wall so that he could back into it again. I am so glad that I have this little guy. I love being a mom. It is the hardest best thing I have ever done.

So While we were in Rexburg, Heather helped us take some looking photos of Shiloh. They turned out soooooo cute. There are so many, so I just posted a few here. I just hought I would share a couple of my cute little man and all of his crazy hair!

Trip to Rexburg

So we decided for our summer vacation this year we would go and visit Kenny's sister, Heather, and her family. I know that Little Rexburg, Idaho may not seem like the happening place to be, but we love it and we had a lot of fun. Plus, It is pretty close, which is a good thing if you are traveling with a 4 month old. :) We unfortunately forgot our camera at home, but Heather was nice enough to take a few pics of Shiloh for us While we were there.

We decided to go for a hike one day. This was a cute little bridge that we were able to get a picture on of the whole crew.
Here we are on the hike. Shiloh at this point had missed one nap, and was supposed to be taking another....obviously he wasn't and obviously he was very tired. This hike was so fun and so beautiful.

Also during this trip ( although we don't have any pics to show for it) we went to the park and tried a couple of the place around town to eat, including a little cheese steak stand at BYU Idaho that was put on by some students in Eric's class. That was a lot of fun. On Friday night Kenny joined all of the boys for a father's and sons campout. So the girls hung out. Rachel and Heather and I went to a little local farmers market and just hung out. It was a lot of fun! I am glad that we went.

Father's day

So it was Kenny's first Father's day, but he had to work, so we decided to celebrate with my family on Saturday. First we went to my parent's house ate a good lunch then we went to the Strawberry Days Rodeo. Al in all it was a lot of fun!

As you can see we had a good time!

Shiloh"s first trip to the Park

So we decided to take Shiloh to the park.... not that he really can understand it yet, but it was something fun to do! He actually enjoyed it a lot, I think mostly because he was being held by Kenny the whole time!
Shiloh's first trip down the slide. (Note How Kenny's legs look massively long on the itty bitty slide.)

I think that Shiloh enjoyed the swings best, probably because they are so much like the rocking chair or his portable swing. Any of you who know us well know that the portable swing goes EVERYWHERE with us!

Not that this pic is really relevant to the whole park experience, but by the time we were done playing, he was ready to hit the hay! I just loved how sweet he looks!

Four Months Old!

Can I just tell you all that I cannot believe that my little baby is already 4 months old!!!!! It is crazy how fast time flies when you have a kid. I feel like I blinked my eyes and then he was four months old. He is all in all a really mellow, happy kid. He smiles easily, sleeps through the night most of the time, and thinks that I am pretty funny.... what more could a mom ask for? He has had his troubles with naps, but what kid doesn't have a few kinks to work out?

Shiloh had his four month old appointment at the doctor's office today. Here are the stats:
Height: 85th percentile (26 inches long)
Weight: 18th percentile (14 lbs.)
Head Size: 80th percentile (17.1 cm)

So he is definitely one tall and skinny kid!!!! He is one cute kid too. He is on the verge of rolling over, especially when he is on his stomach. He HATES tunny time, so it is quite a good motivation to learn how to roll over. I truly expect it any day now. He is a master giggler and it still melts my heart every time. I guess it is the simple things that makes being a mom worth it. It is still hard sometimes, but I sure do love it!

Our Anniversary weekend!

So, This passed weekend was our Anniversary weekend. We decided to get away even though we couldn't go with just the two of us. Park city has pretty decent deal this time of year since all of the ski resorts are closed and non of the summer festivities have started up yet. We went up on Sunday after church and came home on Tuesday morning. The plan was fairly simple: Relax go out to eat a few times, including a nice restaurant (which didn't happen, funny story to be included later), and swim. We stayed at the silver king and the weather was nice. Monday we went to the outlet shops and looked around. Th we headed back to the pool for swim time.
Here is Kenny putting Shiloh in the "cold" pool. I thought it was pretty chilly, but Kenny said he didn't think it was too cool. He is usually the picky one about pool temperature, but this time I was the picky one. Shiloh never even cried once. He loved it
Shiloh just enjoyed playing in the water and didn't even cry when his head got dunked all of the way under the water. He like the hot tub too. he just our cute little water baby.
I don't have anything to write about this picture other than I think it is soooo cute. We had just gotten out of the pool here.

Later that night Kenny and I, and Shiloh, got a little dressed up for dinner. We had decided on an Irish restaurant that was on Main Street. Once we got Main and walked up the hill to the restaurant it was closed. There was no warning on the phone recording we called to check the time. Apparently, half the restaurants close during the off time as well. About this time Shiloh started fussing. We were trying to find a nice place to eat and had contemplated even going to a little place in Heber. As we tried to calm the little one down, nothing seemed to be working and we were getting hungry. Low and behold, one of the only places open and close was Red Banjo Pizza. This place was neither nice nor quiet, and definitely not the kind of placed we had envisioned for our nice anniversary dinner. There were kids running all over the place and it was really loud, the pizza was good, but it was kind of dirty looking all around. We looked pretty out of place in our nicer apparel and there we were feeding Shiloh a bottle at the dinner table while our pizza was getting cold. It was just one of those moments that was completely indactive of the stage in life we are at. I had to laugh about it. All in all, though, it was a great weekend!

First Shiloh Smiles on Camera!

We finally got some of Shiloh's smile and camera. He would smile and smile and smile, but the minute camera was out, he would want the passifier. Luckily, they are little easier to get now that he smiles so much more, we are on the verge of giggles and I hope to get one any day now.

My Baby Sister is Married

My little sister Chandi got married this past month. It is so weird to me that she is married. She is the youngest in our family. I kept looking at her thinking, "Is she really old enough to be married?" Then I would realize that I was only one year older when I got married. So weird! Anyway, she is such a beautiful girl, and her wedding was gorgeous. She married Jordan Shepherd. He is a great guy and already fits into the family. I think that he is still getting used our family, since we are little louder and crazier than most families, but he handles us really well :) Congrats to them. (obviously you can tell that I am behind in my blogging since this is from last month.)

Piper, Pixie, and Shiloh

I finally got brave enough a couple of weeks ago to let Kenny help Shiloh "meet" the dogs for the first time. Granted, he has technically met them before, but I have been pretty weary up until this point to let the dogs lick or touch him. Dogs are just so germy, and our dogs in particular LOVE to lick everyone and everything! I was a little nervous at first, but the whole thing turned out pretty fun and Shiloh loved the dogs, He thought they were so funny and kept smiling at Piper especially. The dogs were equally interested in him, and a little befuddles by the sudden change in rules. They hadn't been allowed to touch him or anything before this without getting in trouble. I am still pretty careful with the dogs and Shiloh when I am at home by myself, but it is nice to kind of get that fear of the dogs touching him out of the way!

Like Father, Like Son

Over the past 3 months, I have noticed so many similarities between Kenny and Shiloh. They make the same facial expressions, they both are really hard to wake up once the have fallen asleep, they have the same body build, their hair grows in the same direction, they both sleep with their arms above their head and oh so many more, but I thought that this similarity required a picture and a blog post of....

This is Kenny's hair when he wakes up in the morning. He always has the most out of control "wings" coming off of the side of his head. This is not just every once in a while, this is every time he wakes up.Now take notice of Shiloh's hair in the following picture...

and.....

This is a typical hair do for Shiloh in the morning. I always laugh to see the two of them with such crazy hair every morning, and I find it a very funny similarity between the two of them.

Vaccines

Why is it that no one tells you how sad your baby's first shots are! Shiloh is a total trooper. He only cried for like 30 seconds after the shots were given, but he has been so sad and fussy since we got home. There isn't anything I can do to help him either. I just have to give it time. I feel a bit helpless. I just have to keep telling myself that this IS for his good. It is just hard to watch him fuss and cry and have nothing be able to console him. He finally fell asleep after 5 hours of fighting it. At least I know what to expect at his four month appointment, right?

Well, beyond the shots, his two month appointment well. He is in the 70th percentile for height, 37th percentile for weight, and 64th percentile for head size. They say that he is looking really healthy and growing well. Needless to say, he follows in his father's body type and not mine: tall and skinny :D The doctor just kept commenting on how handsome Shiloh is. Of course I agree. So, those are the stats.

"Professional" photos :)

Our friend Steven Glauser was very generous and did our "first" photo shoot of Shiloh. Although we have many pictures of the little man already, this was a little more professional. We didn't even have to go to the mall to get them done either. We did them in the comfort of the Glauser home. Look at how great they turned out!

He looks so old in this picture. It has gotta be the hair! I don't think anyone would guess that he is only 5 weeks old in this pic!
So the cute little monster hat that Shiloh is sporting was cute gift made (yes I said made) by my friend Irene. I thought his head never be big enough to fit in it when he was first born. Although it is a little big still I just couldn't resist using it for these pictures. I think it is so adorable! Thanks Irene.
Look how precious this little expression on Shiloh's face is! I know, I am super biased being his mom and all, but I love this pic! We ordered one from Costco in a bit bigger size so that I can look at it more than just on the computer.
Well thanks to two of our amazing friends (Irene and Steve) these pics turned out so well. I am so glad that we did them too. I debated about having some sort of professional pictures taken and I am glad that we were able to get some taken. They turned out so well!

More pictures (as promised)

So below is another slide show of pictures of the boy over the last month. I was going to highlight a few pictures, but at this point, Shiloh just sits there. I figure when he is just starting to walk or there is really something amazing to point out I will write some captions about those pics, but for now just enjoy:)
